RPO
FAQs - "Your Frequently Asked Questions Answered"
Q. If we outsource recruitment, aren’t we effectively losing control of a core strategic activity of the business?
A. No, on the contrary, Omni’s RPO solution gives the business more control over recruitment by providing a single point of accountability for recruitment and full visibility of recruitment activity and performance to the business and HR.
Q. Can the benefits of RPO be applied to Permanent and Temporary Workforce Recruitment?
A. Yes. The principles and benefits of RPO can be applied to the recruitment management of permanent staff, fixed term contractors, limited company contractors and agency workforce and are included in Omni’s RPO solution.
Q. Will the RPO solution replace any of our current staff?
A. If you currently have full time resourcers or recruiters then Omni’s RPO solution may give you the opportunity to downsize or restructure. In many cases however recruitment management is handled as a part time role by HR staff. In this case, RPO will often give HR the opportunity to refocus the time they save through RPO into more value adding HR tasks.
Q. How do you ensure the business and HR has visibility of recruitment?
A. All recruitment managed by Omni is monitored and reported on through our dedicated recruitment software, Appellia. Regular reporting and reviews with your dedicated recruitment team will ensure complete transparency.
Q. What does a typical RPO fee structure look like?
RPO fee structures vary between placement based fees structures, to retainer based monthly charges. As a privately owned business Omni are able to offer a flexible pricing model to suit the needs of our clients including risk/reward mechanisms to incentivise elements our performance around key performance indicators that are important to your business
Q. Does RPO guarantee us cost savings?
A. During our Free Readiness Assessment we will be able to assess the level of cost saving that an RPO solution can deliver to your business.
Q. Isn’t the easiest way to reduce recruitment costs just to do more direct web based recruitment?
A. Yes, doing more web based recruitment and reducing the reliance on expensive agencies is a key way to reduce recruitment costs. However this will invariably mean an increase in the resource you need in your organisation to process the increase in CV’s received. (Remember you would now be receiving 100’s of CV for each role directly rather than say 10-12 pre-screened candidates from agencies.) You may need to implement a recruitment management system (if you don’t already have one). And there are direct web based recruitment strategies that you need to learn and implement.
Doing web based recruitment badly can significantly harm your recruitment.
Omni’s RPO solution uses our extensive expertise of direct web based recruitment, our experienced team of resourcers, and our web based recruitment management system “Appellia” to allow you to recruit from the web quickly and cost effectively.
Q. Isn’t it cheaper to build an internal recruitment team rather than go for RPO?
A. We would always recommend that an organisation looks at an internal solution concurrently with assessing the benefits of RPO. Although superficially an internal solution can sometimes look attractive however, it will require an increase in overall fixed recruitment headcount and therefore overhead cost which cannot be flexed to deal with the natural peaks and troughs of demand. In addition this team needs to rapidly build its expertise in direct recruitment, and normally be supported by a professional recruitment management system. Omni’s Free RPO Readiness Assessment will assess the pro and cons of an in-house vs RPO solution.
Q. What involvement will HR have in recruitment if the RPO provider is managing recruitment?
A. Omni’s RPO solution releases the time of HR from basic recruitment administration to be able to focus on strategic recruitment issues such as job profiling, assessment and selection, and onboarding.
Q. Will the RPO provider still work with my preferred agencies?
A. In Omni’s RPO solution we work with you to understand the most successful suppliers, measure their success, provide them a better service and work with them more.
Q. Doesn’t working with one supplier limit access to available candidates?
A. No. Omni is not an agency and does not supply candidates from our own database. Omni manages multiple suppliers and multiple candidate sources on your behalf to ensure you reach the broadest pool of candidates possible. We ensure the maximum reach in the marketplace to source the most suitable candidates for your needs.
Q. Our Line Managers currently work directly with Agencies. How will moving to an RPO provider change this?
A. As part of Omni’s solution, we manage the relationship and contact with all Agencies. This can reduce cold calls to the business by over 70%, and almost eliminate the amount of time spent by managers on agency management. Omni is aware that some managers value their relationship with Agencies and may not wish to relinquish this responsibility. If this is the case then Omni recommend you request a Free RPO Readiness Assessment in order to evaluate the preparedness of the business to outsourced recruitment.
Q. Do you have experience of recruiting in my industry?
A. Omni has experience of recruiting in many industries for many different skill areas. Our Account Managers are from varied backgrounds, and are trained to work cross-industry. They are professional recruiters with the skills and ability to ask the right questions and manage the process effectively for any recruitment requirement. We may well have experience in a given industry. That is not the basis for Omni’s successful track record in RPO but rather our professional recruitment management approach.
Q. What number of annual hires would warrant engaging an RPO?
A. There are no maximum limits to recruitment under Omni’s RPO service (which may reach into the thousands per annum). However it is generally accepted that if you have less than 20 hires per year and RPO service may become uneconomic. In this case we suggest you request a Free RPO Readiness Assessment .
