Getting Control Of Agency Temporary Workforce Spend

Many organisations struggle to get control of their spend on agency temporary workers. Why is this?

Well typically the decision whether or not to take on an agency temporary worker is delegated to junior management. There is not the same authorisation required for agency temporary workers as for payrolled staff and they are not normally counted within the overall heacount establishment. In many cases there is no reporting mechnism to track the number and spend on agency temporary workers. Finance struggle to track and budget for spend in this area.

In addition to this, many organisations do not have well formulated or managed arrangements with their supplying agencies. Terms are agreed on an ad hoc basis, and there may be no cross referencing of invoices against time sheets, or other accuracy checking.

Lastly, there may be agency temporary workers who have been working with the same organisation for a long time. This could mean that they now have employment rights.

Omni works with organisations who have some or all of the challenges detailed above. We will:

  • Perform audits of the agency temporary workforce, including gathering information on agency temporary workers, agency rates and agency terms and conditions, culminating in a view as to the potential savings available
  • Develop preferred supplier lists of temporary worker agencies, including the negoitation of rates and terms and conditions
  • Develop and implement temporary workforce control frameworks, to ensure that the engagement of temporary workers is managed appropriately moving forward
