On 28th September, Omni took part in #FIRMday Manchester, which saw professionals from the recruitment and talent acquisition industry come together to share insights and findings from the last year, as well as a glimpse at what’s in store for 2022.

Our Head of Assessment, James Crichton, got the opportunity to share findings from the CIPD Resourcing and Talent Planning Survey, produced in partnership with Omni, and provide key takeaways and actions for TA teams to consider in the year ahead.

The day also saw insightful presentations from the likes of Neil Armstrong from Tribepad, who discussed the true cost of a bad candidate experience and the impact of candidate ghosting, revealing that 86% of people feel down or depressed after being ghosted by hiring managers.Whilst Talent Solutions UK delved into the steps that employers need to take to ensure effective flexible working.

Strategy and Development Director for The FIRM, Rachel Dalboth, talked about bias in the hiring process, discussing the importance of awareness. An interesting subject which is as the heart of Omni’s ‘inclusive first’ approach to hiring manager training and considered in Omni’s Recruitment Effectiveness Assessment.

Speaking about the first in-person #FIRMDay after the pandemic, Rachel said: “It feels so nice being back and seeing people face-to-face again. There have been a few key takeaways for me, particularly from the group discussions, because you can really see, feel and hear what people are grappling with on a day-to-day basis.”

James Crichton added: “It’s so useful to be able to mix with other people and hear about the challenges, issues and solutions that people are coming up with in real-time.”
